ERIC FREEMAN
TEACHING PASTOR
Eric was born and raised downstate but has called Cadillac his home since 2017. He earned a BA in Journalism from Michigan State University and a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary. After a brief stint in journalism, Eric has served in a variety of ministry roles and settings since 2010, including as an apprentice at two other church plants. Eric is married to Julie and they have two children, Max and Josie. When not working or chasing his kids around, he enjoys sports, disc golf, history, art, reading, music, and the outdoors.
JUSTIN SLUITER
WORSHIP PASTOR
Justin is a Northern Michigan native, a foodie, and lover of all things music. He and his wife, Sarah, and two children, Gemma and Asher, live in Cadillac and make good use of the beautiful lakes and trails in the area. Justin served as youth director and worship leader for a local church for four years before planting The Refuge Church. He grew up with hymnals, loves acoustic and full band worship, and desires to see the church worship as one body of believers, pulled closer by their diverse backgrounds and preferences. Justin also works part-time as a FedEx delivery driver in addition to his ministry roles at the church.
